Kotex launched their new limited edition range to celebrate women's progress for the last century. The limited edition range presents illustrations of Datuk Nicol David and Yuna on the cover as a form of recognition for their astounding achievements in their respective fields. Working together with the two Malaysian powerhouses lets Kotex to solidify the brand's dedication to women's progress with the #SHECAN Fund.
Kotex established the #SHECAN Fund with the objective of inspiring women and offering them a platform to make their ambitions a reality, improving their lives and those around them as well. Kotex plans to set up a special subset of the fund which will then be donated through the #SHECAN Fund for talented, deserving women wanting to progress well in the sports and music fields respectively.
Marketing Manager for Kimberly-Clark, Frenissa Lagman said that she encountered various stereotypes regarding women and one of them includes women not excelling in certain fields because of their gender in which she wants to change that.
She said, "Kotex is very committed to women's progress with the #SHECAN Fund with the clear goal of inspiring and motivating women to help achieve their passion because we are confident that women are built for incredible things."
Frenissa added that the Malaysian icons, Datuk Nicol David and Yuna truly embody the values that the #SHECAN Fund advocates and it is an honour to have them as part of the campaign. The powerhouse duo are living proof that women can break through adversities and challenges no matter the situation because, period or not, #SHECAN.
The #SHECAN Fund provides the opportunity and platform with the goal of helping to stimulate and boost young, aspiring women in the sports and music industries. Two fortunate ladies will be prepared with the right help they need to make a good start in their careers.
They encourage the participants to show their talents so they can have the opportunity to join the #SHECAN Fund. They can do so by sharing video so them training in the sport they excel at or a video of them singing their own original songs on their social media platforms featuring a caption that sums up the reason they should be picked.
Internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter, Yuna said that, “Growing up, I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do but I have always had passion for singing ever since I was a kid. I was so thankful to be given the opportunity to pursue my dreams of becoming a singer. The journey came with its own set of adversities but I persevered and stayed strong to overcome the obstacles that got in my way. With the Kotex #SHECAN Fund collaboration, I want to be able to provide the same opportunity to help the younger generation continuously progress in the music field.”
Eight-time squash World Champion, Datuk Nicol David mentioned that, “I moved abroad at a young age to chase my dreams of becoming a squash player. It was tough for me to be away from my family at that age but that was a sacrifice I had to make to chase my ultimate dream and I was blessed to have very supportive parents. Now, I want to be able to provide a platform for the younger generation to help kickstart their sports journey.”
